The #2 Lady Falcons fell to #1 Randolph, 48-32, and ended their season with a 17-7 record. EV struggled to get their offense going early in the game and fell back, 14-5, at the end of the first quarter. Randolph started firing even hotter in the second quarter and took a 20-point lead heading into the half. The deficit proved to be too much to overcome in the final half and the Cardinals advanced to the district final. Randolph will play North Central on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in Niobrara. Seeded #2, the Lady Falcons dominated the #3 Lady Tigers, 64-48, at Battle Creek. They advanced to the subdistrict final which will be played against #1 seed Randolph on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in Battle Creek. In the first round game, EV came out firing and jumped out to an 8-point lead at the end of the first quarter. They continued to build on their lead and pulled away to win by 16. Amber Miller and Hannah Ollendick came up with some huge plays to lead EV. Miller led all scorers with 23 points, and Ollendick earned a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. To top it off, they each swiped 4 and 5 steals, respectively. Olivia Nall had a very impressive night as well, earning a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The lady Wolfpack swept the Cyclones finishing 59-20 to put prepare them for sub-districts this week. Finishing the first quarter Leading Elgin Public/Pope John in scoring was Lydia Behnk and Allyson Wemhoff tying for 11 points, and Paige Meis and Calli Krebs following right behind with 10 on the board.
